I’m a fan of Sauv Blancs. I drink a lot of wine from Washington, but I’ve been recently opening up my palette to New Zealand Sauv Blancs. I love a bright acidic push. I love the cool mid palette rush of New Zealand, but the dull fruit of Washington has a wonderful place.
Here are the Sauv Blanc’s I’ve been happiest with this past year.
- Adrice Cellars 2019 Vivant
The tasting notes mention sweet pineapple. It should. - Ambassador 2018 Sauvignon Blanc
Citrus right on the front and a floral nose. Cheap too. I LOVE the price point. - Tildio 2018 Sauvignon Blanc
I don’t know if it was the wine, or the vacation, but this one was truly memorable. Bright. - Whitehaven 2018 Winemaker’s Select
A classic New Zealand that’s been a simple go to. There’s something to a regular easy-to-get staple from my local grocery store.
I haven’t found a California one worth the hype yet.
